5 Million Gmail Passwords Leaked, Now What?

5 million gmail passwords leaked, now what?

Another major username and password leak was announced today.  As first reported by the Daily Dot on Tuesday evening, nearly 5 million usernames and passwords for Google accounts were published on a Russian Bitcoin forum.  The forum user who published the passwords claimed 60% of the passwords are valid.

While many sources are claiming the information is old, it's always better to be safe than sorry.  Also, if you tend to reuse the same password for multiple applications, it's probably a good idea to follow the steps below.

 Here’s what you should do:

  1. Check if your password was leaked by using this tool.

  2. Change your password for your Gmail Account and use a strong password. You can also use this password generator to create a strong password for your apps.

  3. Enable two-factor authentication for your Google account.
